Who:
Despina Kapetanaki, born in Athens, Greece, holds a degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Athens and a diploma in Acting from Arhi acting school.
From 2004 to 2009 she lived in Dublin, Ireland, where she completed a Masters in Literary Translation in Trinity College and worked as a drama teacher with children and adults. She also developed her own project " In Touch", which was presented at La Catedral Studios. In Dublin , she was introduced to Grotowski's physical and vocal training by Nervousystem Theatre Company. In 2009 she moved back to Athens, where she stayed until 2012. During this time, she collaborated as an actor with "Peiragma" theatre group in the Ancient Greek comedy "Plutus" by Aristophanes. The production received the second award for best performance of Ancient drama. She, also, worked as a school drama teacher and directed the school theatre play "The scarecrow's dream" written by Eugene Trivizas. Since March 2012, she is based in Bielefeld, Germany. She participated as an actor in Theater Labor's Bielefeld "Die Goetter, die wir verliessen", "Traumfisch", "Kaff und Kosmos" and "Kunstrasen". In September 2013, she attended Eugenio Barba's Masterclass "Thinking in actions". In October 2013 she founded the Experimental Theatre Studio in Bielefeld University. In August 2014 she was invited by the world renowned Odin Teatret, Denmark to participate at the Odin Week Festival, an international theoretical/practical festival, which includes an intensive introduction to Odin Teatret's training and working methods as well as meetings with Eugenio Barba, lectures and discussions.
